Details of the Accident

HIT and RUN Driver details

COLOR:Gold/Silver (hard to tell exact color under street lights)
Make: SATURN (newer model late 2000’s would be my guess, definitely newer than 99)
TAG NUMBER : TN Plates: Rutherford County: 567-WSQ
Driver: Woman in her 20’s, possibly early 30’s: looked to be African American or mixed, though it was dark out I am not 100% positive about skin color (she looked light skinned), dark hair and glasses.

About me

So I was taken via ambulance to MTMC tonight. my lower back and right hip were hurting right after the accident occurred. Structurally the bones are fine, but the doctors said I have a hip contusion (this is a bruise with swelling and some bleeding under the skin. there are no broken bones, this injury takes a few days to a few weeks to heal.) and low back pain. The accident occurred at around 8:45pm, it is now 12:15am and all the muscles in my back and neck are starting to hurt really bad and i am very stiff. I am very shaken and emotionally upset, but I am sure with rest I will be ok in a few days, I will update you all on my condition as things go on.

About our Truck

The explorer, I must say is made of much better parts than a Saturn (having owned a Saturn once I know this). The back bumper is actual metal not plastic, so it can absorb a bit more of an impact. However, the bumper is pushed up about 2 inches, which to me means the Saturn that hit me will probably show a bit more damage – so they should be quite noticeable (TAG # 567-WSQ)… She hit me hard enough that the radio actually fell out of the dashboard… Otherwise, until I have the truck looked at, I am not sure what (if any) damage to the vehicle is.

Ok, so while they are getting me loaded up into the ambulance, the police officer jumps in and give me a citation for not being able to find my insurance information. Ok, I’m sorry I was a bit shaken up and just couldn’t find it, I know its there. the policy has been the same since 2007 and I had a statement that I found from 2008, but I couldn’t find the insurance info – I don’t normally drive Georges truck so I don’t know where he keeps that kind of stuff, So me, the one who was hit gets to go to court now to fight this??? On top of that, the police officer all but told my fiance that the driver will never be found??? How is that possible? I gave them a tag number, a make and color of the car, and the driver’s description? Can someone explain WHY they won’t be able to find the driver of the car? or at least the OWNER of the car – if the car has tags, its registered in the state of TN, so can’t the county clerk pull the address/phone number on file and send an officer out to speak with the driver? The only other thing I could have done (but wasn’t fast enough) would have been to take a picture of the car as she sped away, even then they wouldn’t find her I guess… George even asked the officer how many people get the tag number in a situation like this and he said none for the most part… So I am going to be punished for being a responsible driver? Does this make any sense, anyone know a good lawyer?
